Betcoin Closes Poker on Christmas Day

The best Bitcoin poker operator to date, Betcoin.ag, has decided to close down its poker tables. The decision comes as a result of declining number of players at their poker tables.

Rake Became Too Much for Players

Betcoin enjoyed quite the run as the number one stop for Bitcoin poker players, but in the end, they failed to adjust. Our sources in the poker community tell that the main reason why the tables died down was the rake.

– They couldn’t keep up with Bitcoin price. The rake in Texas Holdem went as high as 8mbtc, which is just too much. The games were always good when the tables ran, but no one in their right mind will pay that high of a rake, Gamble.io’s poker sources explain.

Bitcoin’s ever-changing price does put a lot of responsibility for the operator to adjust. For example, Cloudbet has done an excellent job in adapting its sportsbook minimum. For a good while, the minimum was 10mbtc ($150 in fiat with today’s BTC price) until they adjusted the minimum to 1 mbtc. Still, that’s high to keep up with Cloudbet’s high rolling image, but now it’s way more accessible to the majority of bitcoin players.

Despite Betcoin closing down its poker operations, it’s still a good destination for Bitcoin gambling. Their excellent dice games, live dealer games and slots remain available – not to mention the tasty bonus you’ll get upon signing up.
